Korean Startup Toss Lab with its flagship product JANDI, a group-oriented messaging, has created an outstanding communication channel for corporate houses. JANDI can easily be dubbed as the Asian version of ‘Slack’, the Silicon Valley team chat tool. The messaging platform with an integrated suite of collaboration tools is tailor-made for workplaces in Asia. JANDI is being used across companies in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore.

A workplace communication channel

JANDI combines messaging and file-sharing systems onto a single platform. It offers file archiving and searching function just like G Drive or Dropbox. But unlike Google or Dropbox, JANDI is a collaboration tool that is more useful in a group-oriented setting.  JANDI has been designed with language support for English, Korean, Japanese, and simplified Chinese. The Asian interface of the app. has details like unread messages, chat-room settings, design features, etc., giving it a chat platform feel.

Unlike the Western corporate group chat-platforms, Korean corporate users like using several pictorial messages. So, JANDI has incorporated interesting emoticons, animated stickers, etc., that gives the user the similar experience of any smart Asian messaging apps, like Line, KakaoTalk, and WeChat.

The platform also has a feature called JANDI Connect, which integrates work tools like Google Calendar, Trello, JIRA, and GitHub, on top of Google Drive and Dropbox, which were already integrated. Users can use JANDI for free up to 5GB of storage and more than that has premium fees.

“JANDI is the number one player in improving work efficiency,”

Kim Kun-Woo, CEO, Zamong

Ensuring client satisfaction for success

Since its launch in 2014, JANDI has seen an increase in the number of user teams across the board from startups to large corporations. According to the company’s website over 100,000 teams are utilising JANDI for communication needs.  The startup also has some notable clients from the startup sphere like Ticket Monster, Yello Mobile and Mango Plate.

JANDI has sure made the communication system much more efficient and increased the work productivity as per some testimonials of the startup’s clients.“After our team started using JANDI, I often get the feeling that our tasks are connected organically,” is what the PR Manager of Pastel Music Hwang Jung-Min said.

Toss Lab had received its Series A funding in two stages with $2 million in 2014 from Softbank Ventures, Cherubic Ventures, and others. In 2016, the startup had raised US $2.5 million from Qualcomm Ventures and HnAP. The company infused the funds to expand and hire teams across Southeast Asia. Toss Lab has offices in Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo that ensure great customer relations in the region.

There are few companies in Asia in SaaS communication services. Toss Lab has been focussing on SaaS tool development and has a bright future in the Asian market.
