oneCHARGE’s Smart EV charging system with computer vision provides convenience & revenues

The era of EV (electric vehicles) is not far as more and more countries vouch for zero-emission goals. But while the number of EV manufacturers is increasing, there isn’t similar momentum in the EV charging sector. The lack of EV charging stations necessary for e-mobility transformation is currently the reason lag in demand for EVs.

Korean startup oneCHARGE has developed an AI + computer vision-based Smart EV Charging System. OneCHARGE’s EV charging system can convert any parking space into an EV charging station, which can also generate revenue.

Transform any parking space to an EV charging station

oneCHARGE provides charging hardware for vehicle owners’ convenience and offers an integrated solution for monitoring and managing EV usage in a commercial setting. oneCHARGE’s physical charger is equipped with a camera that can capture information such as vehicle license plate number, brand, and vehicle model. This feature of the oneCHARGE system helps car park and shopping mall operators understand the dynamics of their visitors and build closer connections with them.

The charging platform is compatible with the charging standards of various countries and is suitable for most EV car models on the market. It can be supported and integrated into the existing parking lot management system. In addition to helping to improve the service level of parking lots, owners of charging parking spaces can also rent out idle charging parking spaces to earn income. Since this device can use NB-IoT technology, it has a wider coverage and can easily transmit data to the management system. There is no need to build another network in the parking lot, and the cost is greatly reduced.

The mission for global expansion

oneCHARGE was launched in 2017 by CEO Cyrus Chow and CTO Lucas Kuan in Hongkong when they saw the lack of hassle-free EV charging systems. In 2018, oneCHARGE participated in the K-Startup Grand Challenge, a startup accelerator program organized by the South Korean government, and has now established a base there as well.

The startup has entered into an agreement with Lotte Rental and has installed its EV charging systems at IFC Mall Seoul Green car pickup point. oneCHARGE’s systems are already operating at few locations in Hong Kong, and the company plans to cover more sites in 2021. In 2020, the startup received $150,000from Asiapay and $70k from Seoul Global Startup Centre. With more and more governments making policies for e-mobility transformation, oneCHARGE aspires to expand to more ASEAN countries.
