Korean startup Deep Hearing creating a noise-free environment for clear online communications

The pandemic era has accelerated digital communication as video calls, video lectures, video meetings take over face-to-face interactions. Korean startup Deep Hearing has developed a technology for stress-free, noise-free online communication. Deep Hearing has launched a noise reduction app that filters out external noises based on research on the convergence of Artificial Intelligence and human hearing.

A noise-reducing app that helps in stress-free communication

Deep Hearing’s app works as per sound signal pre-processing technology that filters out background noises and clarifies target communication voice. The directional AI microphone passes only the voice of a specific speaker, eliminating any other noises. The app works with various teleconferencing apps like Zoom, Webex, MS Teams, etc. There is no need to download or install any program for the app’s running as it can work as an extension on Chrome.

While most voice signal processing technology suffers from reduced performance in a noisy environment, Deep Hearing’s technology tries to resolve the issues related to AI speakers, unwanted noises hampering speech-to-text subtitles, etc. The features of Deep Hearing’s app suppress howling noise that happens when multiple computers are in the same place; they reduce word error rate with better speech recognition and work on any browser – Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc.

Deep Hearing’s technology can help students have better participation for online classes, apparent howling noises for pleasant online work meetings, make a better remote work environment, help in on-the-go work situations and make smart speaker output better. The company started in 2019, wants to target both B2B and B2C markets. Deep Hearing launched the beta service of its noise reducing app in March 2021, and it has been used for KAIST online classes recently. The startup is also looking to expand its market to the USA, where teleconferencing and online meetings are popular. Currently, DeepHearing noise cancelling solutions are now implemented in LG U+ and Gooroomie.
