JNP Nature, a Korean startup, strives to cut the increased use of nano- and microplastics (NMPs) at the industrial level in products like paints, cosmetics, and other synthetic products that expose humans to major health hazards.
Increasing NMP pollution due to poor disposal of plastic produced worldwide is raising major environmental concerns.
Plastic that is not disposed of properly persists in the environment for decades while degrading with numerous associated environmental pollutants and plastic additives and microbial communities colonizing their surfaces.
Facilitating eco-friendly material for various consumer products
With the advent of technology in recent times, various companies are assessing the paradigm of properties and applications of mesoporous materials to curtail the ubiquitous presence of NMPs. JNP Nature is trying to establish a nano mesoporous platform to produce nanoporous silica at the industrial level.
Currently, JNP Nature’s research is centered around producing household goods and cosmetics and develop all the products directly at their facility using nanoporous silica. The nanoporous silica is made using in-house technology that involves the synthesis phase of a single step to get a uniform particle size of nanoporous silica from 100-500 nm.
The startup uses this material to manufacture products with superior efficacy based on proprietary technologies that use only environmentally safe ingredients and can be used with peace of mind.
JNP Nature aims to cut environmental pollution by stalling NMPs in the future by promoting nano particle-based products with better biocompatibility and low toxicity. The process developed by this Korean startup will bring down the cost of producing nanoporous silica for industrial use compared to its competitors, thereby producing affordable finished goods for the end customers.
Founded in 2017 by Yongsuk Jeon, the company is slowly expanding its home care range using nanoporous silica. The startup aims to build a mass-production unit for their patented product and expand to new markets with their cosmetic product by 2023.
As a long-term goal, JNP Nature plans to tap the global market by 2027 by venturing into the medical and biological material segment with its patented technology.
