Asia’s largest technology expo, the BEYOND International Technology Innovation Expo (BEYOND Expo), is set to take place in Macao from May 10 to May 12. More than 800 exhibitors from 120 countries are participating in the event, which provides a unique platform for idea exchange and comprehensive industrial modernization through global technological innovation. The theme for this year’s event is “Technology Redefining,” focusing on three key areas: Sustainability, Healthcare, and Consumer Tech.
The Expo was launched in 2019 to offer innovators, companies, and startups from Asia a chance to showcase their technology, products, and services to the world. Gang Lu, the Expo co-founder and CEO of TechNode, a leading Chinese startup media group, shared that the event was created because there wasn’t a platform like CES, which is hosted annually in Las Vegas, in Asia. “Every year, Asian companies travel from the Far East to the USA to showcase their technology. So we wanted to do something like CES in Asia, which gives Asian companies a platform and includes participants from the Western world,” he said.
“While CES only focuses on consumer tech, BEYOND Expo also focuses on healthcare and sustainability technology. The event is expected to draw more Fortune 500 companies, large cross-border enterprises, tech unicorns, and startups to participate,” Gang Lu added.
The event was postponed for in-person exhibition in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, it was held virtually in the metaverse. This year, the event will be held in person at the Venetian Macao Convention & Exhibition Center with worldwide participation. BEYOND Expo 2023 will feature three main summits – HealthCare, Sustainability, and ConsumerTech, spread across six stages.
What to Expect at BEYOND Expo 2023
BEYOND Sustainability will focus on technological innovation and applying environmentally sustainable technologies. It will foster collaboration among individuals, companies, and governments worldwide and stimulate their interest in sustainable development.
BEYOND Healthcare will showcase cutting-edge technologies, products, and solutions in the life sciences industry by creating a platform that integrates companies and connects upstream, downstream, investment, and academic exchanges.
BEYOND Consumer Tech will bring together the latest technologies and products in the consumer technology industry, ranging from foundational technologies such as AI, smart manufacturing, and semiconductor chips to industrial applications for individuals, homes, and travel.
On May 10, the opening day, there will be product launches where several global companies will participate in presenting their newest technologies. The opening ceremony will feature distinguished speakers, including Joe Tsai, Executive Vice-Chairman of Alibaba Group.
On May 11, the BEYOND Expo will host a Global Investment Summit where speakers from international investment firms like Hill House, SoftBank, Family Office, SOSV, CGC and more will host talks on topics around global investment trends.
A stage for startups to pitch their business
The Expo is an excellent platform for startups in Asia and worldwide, as they get an opportunity to present their innovations. The event will be hosting a Demo Stage each day, where startups can pitch their services to a knowledgeable audience full of investors and media. The BEYOND Expo app has a salient translation feature, which can help media and global investors overcome language barriers.The Expo will host business match meetings for the participating startups in the Lounge 1, where emerging companies can have one-to-one talks with venture capitalists.
Lounge 2 will host media companies and tech companies from Asia and the world, where any participant can attend to understand the rising trends in the technology ecosystem. South Korea’s leading media group beSUCCESS Media Group, will participate in the Expo as Korea’s official media partner.
The ORIGIN Conference on Southeast Asia Market is a side event of the Expo. Global experts will discuss business in the Southeast Asia Market and emerging technologies like agritech, Web3, and more.
The BEYOND Awards event will honour outstanding innovations in all three sectors on the final day. BEYOND Impact awards will be given to individuals, products, and services that have demonstrated an impact on the global community with technological innovation. “And lastly, If you are in Macao, you cannot avoid partying. So apart from all the serious business, participants in the Expo will be hosted for fun parties, for which we have invited top DJs,” Gang Lu said in the media briefing.
