In a world where high-quality healthcare is often hindered by communication barriers, South Korean startup HitchMED is on a mission to make it accessible and affordable for everyone. Founded in 2018, HitchMED’s flagship platform, EASYDOC, is setting new standards in global healthcare by addressing the challenges stemming from language obstacles in the medical field.

One of the most significant challenges faced by individuals seeking healthcare services abroad is the language barrier. Patients often find themselves navigating multiple stages from the onset of symptoms to obtaining a prescription, and this process is further complicated by communication difficulties. EASYDOC steps in to bridge these gaps, providing a technology-driven medical expertise environment.

Simplifying Healthcare Access for Travelers

EASYDOC is a comprehensive platform that brings cutting-edge solutions to the healthcare sector. Its features include:

  1.   AI-Powered Medical Phrase Intent Analysis: Through innovative AI technology, EASYDOC can analyze medical phrases and translate them effectively, ensuring that patients can convey their symptoms accurately.
  2.   Medical AI Translation System (MATS): This system enables seamless translation of medical information, making it easier for patients to communicate with healthcare professionals regardless of their language.
  3.   Community & Medical Professional Consultation: EASYDOC offers consultations for general health inquiries, guidance on visiting medical institutions abroad, and information on non-prescription medications. These services are available for both international and domestic travelers, promoting healthy journeys.
  4.   Emergency Medical Card: For individuals with underlying medical conditions or those taking medications, conveying crucial information during emergencies can be challenging. EASYDOC addresses this concern by providing an emergency medical card, complete with English translations, which can be stored as an image for quick access and reference.
  5.   Symptom Analysis: Users can enter their symptoms, and EASYDOC‘s AI technology will analyze them, providing information on possible diseases. Symptoms can also be translated into Japanese, Chinese, and English, facilitating communication with overseas medical professionals.
  6.   Hospital & Pharmacy Search: EASYDOC‘s search feature has expanded to include pharmacies, offering the convenience of discovering hospitals and pharmacies in locations such as Japan and Vietnam.
  7.   Hospital Reservation (Paid Service): Booking a hospital appointment has never been easier. Users can select their symptoms and desired appointment date, and EASYDOC‘s dedicated staff will assist in booking an appointment at a nearby hospital.

A Growing Global Presence

HitchMED is committed to ensuring safe and efficient medical services for Korean travelers abroad through EASYDOC. The company is actively expanding its reach in Japan, as evidenced by a recent business partnership with the respected Japanese medical corporation Clinovation and the launch of five Tokyo Business Clinic facilities. These facilities aim to provide stable services for EASYDOC users and enhance healthcare accessibility for Korean travelers in Japan.

With a beta service already available for hospital reservations in Japan, the official version of EASYDOC is scheduled for launch later this year, offering a comprehensive and user-friendly platform for medical assistance.

HitchMED is also focusing on commercialization in Japan, hiring Japanese nurses to strengthen its presence in the country and improve the healthcare experience for Korean travelers.

As the global telehealth market continues to expand, with a market size of $1017.9 billion (1423 trillion KRW), and South Korea’s primary care market, including medical tourism, valued at $62.4 billion (87 trillion KRW), HitchMED’s EASYDOC is poised to play a leading role in transforming the landscape of global healthcare accessibility. The company’s dedication to overcoming language barriers and simplifying healthcare services reflects a commitment to providing high-quality medical care for everyone, regardless of their location or language.

With an eye on expanding its reach and providing valuable healthcare support to travelers worldwide, HitchMED is set to address the healthcare needs of individuals in various countries, including dynamic healthcare markets like Vietnam.
