The South Korea Financial Services Commission (FSC) has announced that the sixth annual Korea Fintech Week will be held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul from August 27 to 29, 2024. This year’s event will focus on the theme, “Fintech and Artificial Intelligence: Opening the Future of Finance,” highlighting the transformative role of generative AI in the fintech sector.
With the rapid advancements in generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, the event aims to explore how AI can enhance innovation and productivity across various industries, particularly within the financial and fintech sectors. Korea Fintech Week 2024 will serve as a platform to promote AI technology and its ripple effects on these industries.
The event will feature numerous fintech and financial companies that will set up booths, allowing visitors to experience the latest in innovative and convenient financial technologies firsthand. Additionally, thematic seminars will be held throughout the event, providing in-depth insights into the application of the latest AI technologies, global fintech trends, financial security, ESG (environment, society, and governance), and insurtech.
This year’s Korea Fintech Week will also introduce a mobile business meeting platform designed to foster networking among fintech industry stakeholders. This platform aims to provide fintech companies with more opportunities to promote their business models and attract investments. Furthermore, the FSC plans to expand the corporate information (IR) open stage and networking lounge to facilitate these interactions.
Investment attraction programs will be a key focus, with strengthened initiatives such as the Korea Development Bank’s NextRound fintech special round and a reverse IR event organized by the Fintech Innovation Fund’s consignment manager. These efforts are aimed at supporting promising fintech companies in securing the necessary funding and partnerships for growth.
Starting from May 20, the FSC will begin accepting applications for booths at the Korea Fintech Week 2024 exhibition hall, as well as entries for the Fintech Idea Contest. Interested parties can apply through the Korea Fintech Support Center Operations Secretariat.
