Korean startup AITRICS aims to provide predictive, preventive and personalized healthcare utilizing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The digital healthcare startup has developed an AI-based predictive solution that can help detect health problems at a much earlier stage than at the onset of signs or symptoms. The predictive analysis service by AITRICS is likely to be a helpful device considering the aging population and spiraling health issues worldwide.

Preventing Health Emergencies using AI

AITRICS’ VitalCare is the first AI-driven patient risk prediction system that collects patient data such as vital signs and lab tests directly from electronic medical records (EMR). It generates prediction scores for clinical deterioration and sepsis 4 to 24 hours in advance. The product aims to deliver an integrated healthcare interaction system by providing real-time predictive analytics solutions to aid physicians in the early detection of subtle signs of patient deterioration. VitalCare was created through a joint venture with DAMC in 2019. The venture combined AITRICS’ unique AI system with DAMC’s vast experience in the medical field to develop cutting-edge AI technology that will provide next-generation medical services.

The VitalCare system improves patient safety, helps doctors save more lives, and effectively reduces medical costs by identifying patients with a high risk of clinical deterioration. It also identifies the contributing clinical factors through analyzing data from different sources. The product was designed to be implemented in the ICU, emergency unit, and general wards to prevent failure to rescue (FTR) and optimize the healthcare institution’s patient admissions and discharge processes, thereby improving its efficiency while reducing costs. Through the Vital Care system’s predictive analytical solutions, healthcare professionals can make the right medical decision and administer the appropriate healthcare services to high-risk patients.

Founder & Team members

CEO Jin-Kyu Yoo founded AITRICS in 2016 as an AI solutions company-based in Seoul, South Korea. With a shared vision and a common purpose, passionate and dedicated professionals from diverse backgrounds came together to create the most exceptional team. The team is committed to developing innovative source technologies and solutions to provide the world’s most secure and reliable machine learning engine artificial intelligence solutions.

At AITRICS, talents from different fields and all parts of the world gather and challenge every day to develop AI solutions that solve the most challenging healthcare issues facing humanity. According to CEO Jin, AITRICS leverages its top-notch machine learning technologies to innovate healthcare specializing in predictive solutions for diseases and AI-driven accelerator for drug discovery. AITRICS is committed to developing advanced medical AI solutions that will ultimately save millions of lives worldwide and thus revolutionize healthcare. The company’s machine learning technologies are recognized at top tier machine learning conferences, such as ICML, Neurlps, and ICLR.

International Partnerships with top hospitals

AITRICS is taking on the ultimate role of giving everyone access to the power of data-driven health intelligence. It utilizes state-of-the-art machine learning technologies with evidence-based expert analysis to provide real-time clinical insights capable of transforming reactive disease care into predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory care. The company’s strong capabilities have partnered with the world’s leading hospitals, such as Cleveland Clinics in the US, Samsung hospital in South Korea, Dong-A University Medical Center in South Korea, and many others. “In collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, one of the best hospitals in the United States, we have made a successful first in applying AI to clinical practice to create real value,” said Jinkyu Yoo, CEO, and Co-founder of AITRICS. “It has been possible to improve the accuracy of VitalCare by verifying with top tier hospitals in the US. Through this; we confirmed the possibility of medical AI solutions. We will expand to other fields based on certified technology to solve the problems prevalent in all parts of society,” Yoo stated.

Future plans

AITRICS aims to continue gaining expertise in medical AI technology. The company plans to expand its VitalCare technology applications to other fields such as entertainment and finance to solve these fields’ critical problems. In its collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic, AITRICS aims to expand its Vital Care’s predicted types of diseases and modalities by verifying its A.I. models against the clinic’s clinical data. The move is expected to develop a new AI model that considers various factors in building analytical solutions for predicted severe deaths that apply to patients from multiple states worldwide.
