The automobile industry’s future is heading towards numerous technological advancements, with autonomous driving, ICT technology, Eco-friendly vehicles, and smart transportation. The paradigm shift demands more regulations for safety, environment, traffic, etc. requiring advanced automotive camera functioning. Korean startup ROIIVE is actively developing core automotive camera technology and application to ensure more safety features and data analysis conversion for vehicles.

Designed for autonomous vehicles for more precision

Automotive cameras are majorly used to assist the driver in parking, maneuvering, and assess vehicle performance. Hence, these camera systems play a crucial role, especially in the autonomous driving industry market. ROIIVE was established in 2019 with the vision to commercialize and market advanced camera products for the development of autonomous driving recognition and judgment systems. Its core product is enhanced with the CMOS Image Sensor & Image Signal Processor Semiconductor, a core component of the camera application. ROIIVE’s technology can increase the performance and quality of automotive cameras necessary for the autonomous driving industry’s future.

The core functions of the automotive camera application by ROIIVE includes necessary installation of ISP (image processing) and application of HDR and LFM technology, better video quality, software tailored to the driving environment by vehicle mounting location, compact size for mountanbility, and optical lens with a minimal reflection of night light, user interface, compatible UVC (USB Video Class), pedestrian and vehicle, lane, traffic light, traffic sign recognition algorithm and driving video data logging and labeling.

Vision and expansion plans

ROIIVE’s products are offered for three main business areas – the automotive multichannel camera for ADAS & Vision System for an autonomous car, camera kit for the embedded vision system, and industrial vision camera for the smart factory process. While ROIIVE’s first product was officially introduced in 2019, the startup has research of 20 years behind the technology.

The startup has supplied camera sensor module products to the C-ITS (Cooperative-Intelligent Transport Systems) pilot project. It has achieved an annual sales of 800 million won and the development of a vehicle camera for export to Japan and supplying license chips. Currently, ROIIVE is establishing a strategic partnership with the developer of an autonomous driving platform and are installing and demonstrating the developed products in vehicles.

ROIIVE will be introducing more products in the near future and expand its services through its online store. The startup aims to change the future of automotive camera applications with a better video and data conversion system.
