On October 29, 2024, the heart of Silicon Valley pulsed with innovation as the   Korea Venture Business Association (KOVA) and beSUCCESS Media Group brought the 2024 Gangnam Global Roadshow to Menlo Park, California. Held at the O’Melveny & Myers LLP office, this exclusive Demo Day event presented a delegation of Korea’s most promising startups to a full audience of investors, VCs, and corporate leaders eager to explore the future of Korean tech.

The event highlighted the role of venture capital in fostering global tech growth, with each featured startup delivering a concise 5-minute pitch followed by a 5-minute Q&A session. • Impact AI  introduced OASIS, its AI-powered platform aimed at revolutionizing advertising optimization through advanced data insights.
• INOFriends  showcased fintech advancements focused on enhancing asset management and security, drawing interest from the financial sector.

• The StemBank  shared its pioneering work in stem cell applications within beautytech, a rapidly expanding niche with immense potential.
• Bilix presented Brixelle®, an innovative biotechnology solution aimed at oxidative stress protection, stirring discussions on health and wellness applications.

Digital Media & Entertainment

• xCREW  offered a seamless platform for personalized global travel experiences, appealing to a market increasingly seeking curated, accessible travel solutions.
• Sweetndata  unveiled its AI-driven human digital twin technology, transforming media personalization in the entertainment sector.

Smart Infrastructure & Mobility Solutions

• Contactus demonstrated the transformative potential of its AI and AIoT solutions in property management, providing scalability and efficiency for smart infrastructure.
• BANF  presented cutting-edge technology in logistics with real-time tire safety monitoring, promising enhanced safety and operational efficiency.

Networking Reception: Building Global Connections

Following the presentations, attendees gathered for a networking reception featuring catered dinner, creating a lively atmosphere for one-on-one conversations, collaborative idea exchanges, and discussions on potential investment opportunities. Silicon Valley’s investor community was visibly enthusiastic, with many attendees commenting on the impressive caliber and global potential of the Korean startups. Conversations centered around partnerships, investment potential, and expansion strategies for these startups looking to make their mark beyond Asia.

Aviram Jenik, a venture capitalist and active angel investor in Silicon Valley, emphasized the importance of action over preparation for Korean startup;“Korean startups should do less “preparing” and more “doing”. Meaning, the KPI should be “how many US customers have you met” and then “how many US customers tried the product” and finally “how many US customers bought the product”. By building this funnel you will not only get traction in the US market you will also learn about what needs to be improved in the product, the marketing and the sales process.”

Rick Hariman, a global tech executive and investor, highlighted the need for cultural and market adaptation; “Korean ideas are amazing and innovative, but success in North America requires more than just transplanting a business model. It’s about doing relevant market research, tailoring solutions, and finding local advisors to bridge the gap between cultures, demands, and players.”
