TIPS & beSUCCESS is hosting “TIPS X beSUCCESS Korean Startup Showcase @Silicon Valley 2019” to bring in innovative deep-tech startups. South Korea has a very successful startup ecosystem, which can boast of producing unicorns or billion-dollar companies like Coupang, Woowa Brothers and Viva Republica.

Coupang, the Amazon of Korea was founded in 2010 and has raised $2 billion in funds from Soft Bank’s Vision Fund. The food delivery platform Woowa Brothers became a billionaire startup with investments worth $ 320 million from Hillhouse Capital, US-based Sequoia Capital and GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. FinTech startup Viva Republica with its premium product Toss recently received $80 million in funds to gain unicorn status.

A conference that supports potential unicorns

Coupang, Woowa Brothers and Toss, all three companies have something more in common than their billionaire status, they were part of beSUCCESS’s startup conference beGLOBAL in 2013. beSUCCESS, the tech startup media hosted one of the biggest startup conferences called beGLOBAL. The conference was organized with the mission to showcase promising startups from South Korea. beSUCCESS’s expertise in Korea’s startup community, international media, and investor network, has given promising enterprises a platform to get access to become a unicorn.

Now, in 2019 beSUCCESS is hosting “TIPS X beSUCCESS Korean Startup Showcase @Silicon Valley” bringing the top 9 deep-tech startups with the most passionate, innovative and talented founders from Korea in med tech, consumer tech, social impact, and many more industries. The startups are part of TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) the leading Startup Supporting Program in Korea and also partner of the 2019 conference. The TIPS program has seen major success for its startups. As per their records, 423 startups have received over $71.7 million investments from accelerators and $137.8 million as R&D funds, $504.9 million as post-investments and 55 startups have gone for global expansion.

Opportunity for investors, partners to interact with promising startups

“TIPS X beSUCCESS Korean Startup Showcase @Silicon Valley” is a FREE, invite-only event for active and accredited investors and strategic partners to view the most recent Korean tech startups before they graduate the official TIPS program. Attendees will get a first look at the startups’ pitches, meet the founders, and network with other top-tier investors, corporate strategists. This showcase will also set aside time during the event for one-on-one meetings between investors and startups. This way the investor can be guaranteed face time with the companies they are interested in and get all their questions answered.

The offline showcase (startup pitches) takes place over two days on  March 12th (JW Marriott San Francisco Union Square @San Francisco) /  March 13th (Westin Palo Alto Hotel @Palo Alto) including networking time (* food and beverages will be served right after pitches). The investors and strategic partners can register here to receive an invitation to attend, with the option to attend the first day, the second day or both.
