Korean startups learn the art of perfecting the investor pitches during the second week of the Seoul Global Startup Center (SGSC)  ‘Global Bootcamp’ 2021, held virtually. Seoul Global Startup Centre (SGSC) ‘Global Bootcamp’ 2021 is helping seven Korean startups explore opportunities in the international market by connecting them with accelerators, mentors, business experts, etc. The program is scheduled for six days, spread over two weeks from June 7th to 18th.

Day 5: Preparing for the final day IR Pitch

The seven startups participating in the Bootcamp have been divided into two groups – three for USA market expansion and four for Southeast Asia (SEA) market expansion. The startup founders that participated in the USA round were Steve Yang, CEO & founder of   Apollo EduTech, Rachel Chung, CEO & founder of “https://www.koreatechdesk.com/korean-startup-develops-beaptive-first-ever-social-media-app-for-kids BeAptive ; and Amy Chu, CEO & Creative Director of Kaesa and the SEA market sessions are attended by Chloe Eu, CEO of StyleupK; Cyrus Chow, CEO & co-founder oneCharge; Kyung Dong Kyle Kim, co-founder of Wcoding; and Seungwoo Huh, CEO, and founder of SD Networks.

The first three sessions of the 2021 SGSC Global Bootcamp on building communities, branding & marketing, sales & distribution, team-building were held from June 7th to June 15th. On June 16th, the participating startups had interactive sessions to prepare them for their IR pitches for the final day. The USA market sessions were conducted by  Ryan Wang, the founding partner at Outpost Capital, a Silicon Valley VC firm that invests in early-stage startups in the technology,  Vinnie Lauria, Managing Partner at Golden Gate Ventures and  Kevin Chandra, Vice President at Indogen Capital, Indonesia.

Both sessions focussed on preparing the startups for the final day of IR Pitches, helping them understand the dynamics of investor and venture capitalists’ expectations. The startups were encouraged to ask questions regarding expectations from investors and to improvise their IR pitches for the final day. Various topics like internal and external investors, valuations, negotiations, pre-investment, venture capital insights, product development, competition landscape, building a compelling story, industry parameters, business evolution, etc., were included in the sessions.

Established in 2016 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Global Startup Center is jointly operated by startup accelerator N15 and WeWorkLabs Korea. Based in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, the organization offers various kinds of supports for global startups ranging from office spaces and funding vouchers to mentoring services. Seoul GSC is established to serve as the foreigner-friendly startup hub to ease the challenges foreign entrepreneurs face as they start and run their businesses in Korea.

The SGSC 2021 ‘Global Bootcamp’ sessions are scheduled in two weeks, from June 7th to June 18th. Follow SGSC at  https://seoulgsc.com/ about different startup programs.

beSuccess Media group, a leading global startup media company in South Korea, designed the accelerator program in partnership with SGSC. KoreaTechDesk will be bringing you details of each session of the 2021 SGSC Global Boot Camp.
