Fei-Fei Li is considered one of the prominent leading person in the field of deep-learning and an expert in AI. She is also part of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) dedicated to research and advancement in AI technology.

She talked about her involvement in AI and healthcare research. “One of the potential usage of AI which has heightened in the pandemic era is in the need for our seniors. The technology we are working on can allow seniors to be at home where smart sensors are part of their caretaking to ensure that they don’t show early signs of infection. The technology can help in chronic illnesses, monitoring daily activity patterns, So the pandemic really increased my strong desire to get this technology to work.”

Talking about the future of AI and whether AI can be a danger to the world, Fei-Fei Li explained that AI’s dimensions can never overtake the dimensions of human life.

“It is responsibility for all of us involved in AI that AI technology tools do not present any adverse impact. It is a double-edged sword and hence important that we design and develop and deploy technology sensibly.” Fei-Fei Li said that it has to be a collective movement for way ahead with AI and policymakers, social scientists, political scientists, leaders, and technology innovators all work together.
