Nota AI, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) optimization technology company, has signed a contract with the Dubai Transport Authority to supply intelligent transportation system (ITS) solutions powered by generative AI. With this deal, Nota becomes the first Korean company to commercialize an on-device AI solution in the Middle East.
The ITS solution, part of the company’s proprietary Nota Vision Agents suite, is built on a vision-language model (VLM) and can operate seamlessly on Nvidia’s central and edge computing devices. The system processes video data in real time, enabling rapid detection of accidents or anomalies on the road and supporting immediate responses. Nota’s technology was selected for its high-speed data processing, cost-efficiency, and enhanced security that reduces reliance on cloud infrastructure.
Nota has been gradually building a presence in the region, particularly with the Dubai Transport Authority. In November of last year, the company partnered with ATS, a UAE-based transportation infrastructure firm, to carry out a successful proof of concept (PoC) focused on improving traffic management in collaboration with the Dubai authorities.
Following the newly signed agreement, Nota plans to showcase the results of this project at GITEX, the Middle East’s largest tech expo, scheduled for October. Looking ahead, the company aims to expand its smart city initiatives across the broader Middle East, beyond Dubai.
“This partnership with the Dubai Transport Authority is a significant milestone that validates Nota’s global technological capabilities,” said CEO Chae Myung-soo. “We see this as a key stepping stone toward our IPO this year and a launchpad for driving AI-led innovation in smart cities and other industries worldwide.”
Nota has seen strong financial backing since its inception, including early investment from Naver D2SF, and more recently, Series C funding from Stone Bridge Ventures, Stick Ventures, and Mirae Asset Securities. The company has raised a total of 53.2 billion won in funding to date and continues to grow. In 2024, Nota reported 136% sales growth compared to the previous year, with a projected 67% increase in revenue this year.
